Day #2 Willowcreek Leadership Summit

Craig Groeschel Lead Pastor of LifeChurch.tv in Oklahoma and author got things kicked off by talking about his new book "IT". Craig knocked it out of the park. He is an extremely innovative visionary leader and a great communicator. I love reading his blogs and I truly enjoyed his message today. He got me fired up. Below are some of the notes that I took from his session. I hope you enjoy. I would also suggest checking out his blog weekly. God Bless!

Session#5: Craig Groeschel (Senior Pastor-Life Church.tv)
“How to Get IT and Keep IT”

Acts 2:42-47

The Qualities that are most often present in churches/organizations when IT is there…

#1. They are incredibly focused…LAZAR FOCUS

What can you be the very best at?

In order to reach people no one is reaching you will have to do things no one is doing.

To do things no one is doing we can not do the things everyone is doing…

We must have selective abandonment!

What could we best do to help people become fully developed followers of Christ?

What are you doing that you need to stop doing?

#2. Churches/organizations see opportunities where others see obstacles.

We have everything we need to achieve what God has called us to do!

God often guides by what He doesn’t provide!

What is God trying to show us through our greatest limitation?

#3. Churches/Organizations that have IT are willing to fail

Failure is a necessity…failure is often the first step to seeing and experiencing God

SHAKE IT OFF & STEP UP

What has God called you to do that you are afraid to do it? When are you going to do it?

#4. Churches/Organizations that have IT are lead by people who have IT

You need to have IT for your people to get IT

When you have IT others begin to be attracted to IT

Don’t become a full time pastor and a part time follower of Christ!

If you don’t have IT what are you going to do to get IT?

Thanks for this summary. I'm reading Craig Groeschel’s book "It: How Churches and Leaders Can Get It and Keep It." The illusive "it" is what attracts people and makes ministries effective. Craig says "it" can't be taught, but "it" can be caught. God gives "it." "It" has a lot to do with the Holy Spirit. Churches that have "it" are incredibly focused, willing to fail, led by people who have "it," and those people see potential when others see problems. Craig says "the spark of passion ignites the fuel for innovation." And he says "it" follows big vision. God makes "it" happen. "It" is from him, by him, and for his glory. You may want to watch brief videos about the book's message at http://www.zondervan.com/it and http://floatingaxhead.com/2008/08/11/the-power-of-it/
