This past Sunday we concluded our series, "Sound Truth Sound Life." Over the last nine weeks we have been studying verse by verse through the book of Titus. And, although I was not present in our services this weekend I am so proud of our people. It is awesome when as a pastor you can see the Spirit of God at work in the lives of His people. As a pastor you understand that it has nothing to do with you, but all to do with the power of God and so you are just so privilege to be a part of it. As we concluded this series this past weekend we felt as a Leadership Team that somehow we needed to be a small part of God's instrument of grace and blessings to the people of Myanmar who have been devastated by the recent cyclone. The death toll is just staggering and the images from this devastation just heart breaking. The pictures were just too gruesome to post. Through one of our guys on staff we were able to connect with a missionary over there who runs an orphanage that was destroyed as a result of this storm. As a Leadership Team we felt strongly that we needed to give this week's entire offering to help rebuild this orphanage.
The challenge was put before our people and they responded. Through the grace of God and through the obedience of His people over $30, 000 was collected and will be sent over to help rebuild the orphanage. Praise God! The key verse of study this weekend was Titus 3:14. My prayer is that as a people of God and as a church body we would strive to live this way for the glory of God and for the sake of every man, woman and child who need to hear the great news of God's amazing grace.
Our people must learn to devote themselves to doing what is good, in order to provide for urgent needs and not live unproductive lives. Titus 3:14

Wow. I had no idea about this. We were not there this past weekend. Just this past Monday we prayed about this in our small group and prayed that the Church would do something. Summit is blessed to have leaders that see a need and respond as well as a people who give generously. Magdy, Van and myself are blessed to be serving at Summit.
How incredibly pleasing to the Lord. I love hearing things like this and thank the Lord for how He is working in the life of your pastoral team and church! I thank the Lord for you often!
Thats wicked awesome about the $30,000 to help with relief over there! Keep us posted on how the orphanage is doing-the pics Nolan showed us were, well...it was devastating, but man oh man am I glad we can come help in some way!
